We are delighted to invite our network to the next Leading Figures Community session — an interactive and reflective conversation on one of the most important challenges facing leaders today.
Uncertainty is no longer the exception — it is the context in which leaders operate. And yet most of us have been educated and rewarded for projecting certainty, having the answers, and appearing in control. In this session we explore why that impulse can become a trap, and what becomes possible when leaders develop the capacity to lead from not knowing.
We will explore three interconnected themes: the Certainty Trap — why our brains prefer certainty and how over-reliance on it can block insight and connection; the Superpower of Not Knowing — how curiosity, strategic humility and the ability to hold ambiguity become leadership strengths; and Deep Listening — how presence and genuine attention build the trust that makes leading through uncertainty possible.
The session is designed to be light on content and heavy on reflection. There will be significant time to share your own experiences of leading through uncertainty, learn from each other, and consider what you might do differently.
As always, the conversation will be interactive and held under the Chatham House Rule.
The session will be presented by Russell Borland and Richard Galbraith, Partners at Leading Figures.
